Luke Shaw, Manchester United’s Player of the Month for August. How good does that sound?
The 23-year-old enjoyed a stellar start to the Premier League campaign, completing 90 minutes in all four of our matches. Who’d have thought that just a few months ago? Particularly as he looked completely out-of-favour under Jose Mourinho.
After an excellent pre-season tour, Shaw earned his chance to start, my did he grasp that opportunity with both hands. He scored the winner during United’s opening day victory over Leicester City, and has gone on from strength-to-strength since.
It’s the maturity which he has shown that has greatly impressed me. Now, it’s his chance to push on and show the world just how good he can be.
Following winning the award, Shaw had a special message to the fans who have fully backed him during the last few, injury-hit campaigns, and this sort of stuff will only further endear him to the United fan-base.

Now Shaw heads off for his first action with England in quite some time. Hopefully, he meets up with the squad, enjoys himself but comes back injury-free and ready to kick on for his club as the Champions League and Carabao Cup tournaments get underway.
