Luke Shaw to miss West Ham game with injury

Luke Shaw will be unavailable for Manchester United’s trip to West Ham United tomorrow.

The left-back picked up a hamstring issue while playing for the Red Devils against Everton just before the international break in November. At that point, he was expected to be sidelined for about a month and we’re actually coming up on that timeframe pretty shortly.

In the meantime, Alex Telles has been massively impressing the Old Trafford faithful. The Brazil international was brought in to provide direct competition to Shaw, with both players seemingly pushing one another to a higher level.

Well, Telles will be guaranteed the starting spot for at least one more week, with Shaw not yet ready to return. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would confirm that the 25-year-old United star is set to miss the West Ham game with injury, despite the fact that the Englishman has been pictured back in training.

Check out what Solskjaer had to say here:

“Luke’s (Shaw) not ready yet,” Solskjaer told reporters, including ManUtd.com.

“Apart from that, we had a big squad training again.”

It was a massive shame when Shaw picked up that unfortunate injury. At that time, I’d argue he was playing the best football of his career at the Theatre of Dreams.

Our ex-Southampton star looked like he was finally over that horrific injury he suffered a few years ago, looking supremely fit bombing up and down that left-hand side. I just hope that this latest blow doesn’t set him back too much.

It’s vital that in this congested season, Solskjaer consistently has a fully fit squad to choose from. Plus, having that competition that we’ve already alluded to definitely helps everyone in regards to playing their best football.

The good news is that it looks like Luke Shaw may well be available shortly after the West Ham game. Which would be a welcome boost for Solskjaer as his squad suddenly looks far healthier.
