Manchester United have been chasing Harry Maguire for virtually the whole summer. With less than one week left until the deadline things are going right down to the wire…
Anyway today, in an exclusive, The Telegraph are claiming that the United transfer target has been left out of Leicester City’s latest squad for their friendly against Atalanta tomorrow amid uncertainty over his future.
Apparently, Maguire held talks with Brendan Rodgers today and it was ‘mutually agreed’ that the 26-year-old would miss Leicester City’s final pre-season fixture.
The report states that United are targeting the English centre-back although the Red Devils have gotten nowhere near The Foxes £90million asking price, which is believed to be £85million plus £5million in add-ons.
Understandably, Maguire isn’t in the right frame of mind and you do get the feeling that his head has been turned.
But, he’ll be going nowhere unless United pay up. It really is as simple as that. Leicester’s asking price hasn’t budged and they’re under absolutely no pressure to sell. They don’t need the money while Maguire only signed a new contract just last summer.
I do believe United will eventually get their man but this one will go right down to the wire. Transfer season, eh…?
