Man United are ready to make an offer for Villareal defender, Pau Torres.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is seemingly ready to renew longstanding interest in Jadon Sancho this summer, though signing a new centre-half is also amongst the top priorities.
Villareal defender Pau Torres is one of the names that’s constantly being linked with a move to Manchester United. Now, Gazzetta dello Sport (Monday print edition), translated by Sport Witness, have the latest on that saga.
The Italian media outlet goes big. They claim that United are ‘about to launch’ an offer of around £43m (€50m) to sign the 24-year-old. The Reds are thought of as long-term admirers of Torres, having ‘long been on his trail’.
Solskjaer won’t have it all his own way if he’s planning to go hard for Torres, though, with Real Madrid also talked up as an interested party. Obviously, Los Blancos are about to lose Sergio Ramos and quite possibly Raphael Varane too, so they’ll definitely provide stiff competition.

What’s interesting is that this story is coming from Italy, rather than Spain (where Torres is based), or England (where United are based). This news must be coming from somewhere, particularly as there are no Italian links whatsoever.
Personally, I still believe Varane is the number one priority for Solskjaer, though I do see why United would be interested in someone like Torres.
My main concern is that we’ve been here before. Eric Bailly was signed from Villareal and although he had a stellar debut season, he’s struggled to replicate that form. Right now, I just hope United go for someone who has been proven in the long term. Someone who can make an instant impact, ala Virgil van Dijk and Ruben Dias.
