Manchester United are still in the hunt to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.
This transfer rumour is always going to exist until Jadon Sancho actually moves to a new club. Sadly, that’s just the way it works as Manchester United’s name will always sell papers.
Apparently, it’s written that United still ‘absolutely want’ to sign the talented 20-year-old this summer. That’s contrary to reports in England, who stated that the Reds were no longer interested.
Bild adds that the transfer ‘poker’ has already started, with the Reds looking to drive the price down.
Last summer, Dortmund were after £108m to let the superstar Englishman leave. It’s now thought that given low finances across the footballing landscape, with Dortmund themselves looking for an economic boost, they’ll struggle to get that fee.
As per usual, this rumour will drag on for a while. It’s natural given the huge transfer fees involved. Clubs will play hardball and play the long-game for this one, so expect this one to rumble on.
Would Sancho still be a good signing for Manchester United?
That’s undeniable. Sancho is world-class. There’s no getting away from that. However, although he’ll probably cost less this summer, he’ll still be an expensive buy.
Right-wing remains an issue. Mason Greenwood isn’t a natural out there, while who knows whether Amad Diallo will be good enough? Yes, all the positive signs are there but he’s still a work-in-progress.
Personally, I’d go all out to get Sancho this summer. Add him and a proven centre-half and we’d seriously be in the mix to win a Premier League title next season.
