Man United are set to allow Mason Greenwood to leave the club on a permanent deal this summer.
Manchester United have been dealing with several off-field headaches that Erik ten Hag has had to help negotiate ever since taking the reigns at Old Trafford.
Perhaps the most high profile of the lot is Mason Greenwood, who has been exiled from the United squad amid those legal allegations he was facing.
Greenwood returned to the pitch with Getafe last season, where by all accounts, he played pretty well. However, United’s mind was made up. He would not be returning to the Theatre of Dreams.
Now, a permanent move away is close to being finalised. It’s Fabrizio Romano with the news, as he confirms that United have accepted a £25m bid from Marseille for the out-of-favour star. It’s worth noting the Reds have a significant sell-on clause in that deal, of around 40 or 50%.
The final details on the player’s side are being sorted, then the move will be complete.

This is a great bit of business for all involved. United are moving away from a player who has turned into a real headache for the club, despite all his talents.
As for Greenwood, this is a fresh start in a completely different country. There’s no way he’d be welcomed back to any Premier League side so this move overseas definitely makes a tonne of sense.
I do genuinely hope that he’s learned from his mistakes and he can get his career back on track for Marseille. This is a great opportunity for the young man.
