Man United ‘actively eyeing’ N’Golo Kante

Man United are weighing up a bid to bring N’Golo Kante to Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag has been chasing Frenkie de Jong all summer. The new Manchester United boss is desperate to reunite with his Dutch compatriot at Old Trafford. Though you get the feeling all has gone rather stagnant on that front.

With that in mind, it makes sense for the Old Trafford club to look at other options. Leandro Paredes was linked earlier today, while the Reds have also been eyeing up someone else…

The claim comes from the Daily Star, who, over the weekend, wrote a story suggesting that Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante is another player of interest.

Their article is actually based about Arsenal’s interest in Kante, though it’s claimed that United are ‘actively eyeing’ a move for the 31-year-old midfielder. On top of that, they reaffirm the belief that De Jong remains the ‘top priority’.

Kante is currently back in England while his Chelsea team are on pre-season tour in the USA, with the France international not allowed in due to his vaccination status.

With just twelve months remaining on his current Chelsea contract, the London club may have to cash in now – or risk losing Kante for nothing next summer.

Age 31, Kante would also bring some much-needed experience to the Old Trafford club. At this point, that’s an extremely young dressing room at Ten Hag’s disposal, while adding a player who has been there and done it all would definitely help out United.

With Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba both leaving this summer, there’s a genuine need to bring in at least two high-level midfielders this summer. Kante and De Jong would be the dream combination if you ask me…

Do you think a Man United move to sign N’Golo Kante would make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
