Man United are showing a serious interest in Inter Milan’s striker, Lautaro Martinez.

Manchester United have had some heroic number nines over the years. It’s the focal point of any side who are vying for the big trophies. Erik ten Hag hasn’t had a reliable forward at his disposal this term, making the Reds’ success this season even more impressive.

Cristiano Ronaldo left when the going got tough. Wout Weghorst is nothing but a stop-gap. Anthony Martial has nine league goals in three seasons. United need a striker who’ll guarantee 20+ goals a season.

Enter, Lautaro Martinez.

Earlier this week, we covered a claim which stated Inter Milan wouldn’t be against selling Martinez to United.

Now, Football Insider have another update on United’s potential move to sign the Argentine.

Apparently, United are ‘actively monitoring’ the situation of the 25-year-old forward.

The striker has been linked with a Premier League move for many years, due to his great form over in the Serie A.

Ten Hag’s reds remain in the market for a striker this summer, as they look to drag themselves into the title race for the 2023/24 season.

Victor Osimhen is a name that has been linked with a United move this season, though behind the scenes, there are concerns about his injury record.

As for Martinez, there’s a belief a deal would be easier to do. Inter may need to balance the books, particularly if they fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League. The striker could be one player who may be offloaded to generate some funds.

Martinez has 33 goal contributions in 49 appearances across all competitions this season, while he’s the perfect stylistic fit for this United side.
