Man United are looking at a summer move for RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku.

Part of Ralf Rangnick taking the Manchester United job is due to the fact that he’s been given a two-year contract in a consultancy role after.

The German will no doubt have a say on future signings made, while his experience and knowledge of the Bundesliga is information that United absolutely have to benefit from.

It’s no surprise then, to see an influx of German-based players linked with potential moves to Old Trafford since Rangnick’s arrival.

Today, ESPN continue that trend by stating United have added Christopher Nkunku to their list of summer targets, after Rangnick ‘urged’ the club to step up their interest in the RB Leipzig midfielder.

United are looking at a summer move for the star, who has an impressive 32 goal contributions in just 31 appearances this term (19 goals, 13 assists). Obviously, with Paul Pogba’s future up in the air, Nkunku could well be the perfect replacement for the Frenchman.

United aren’t the only side taking notice of Nkunku, though, with Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal also in the famr.

The Reds have told their scouts to increase their focus on Nkunku, who is yet to make his senior debut for France.

Another big positive about Nkunku’s game is his versatility. The RB Leipzig man can operate as an attacking midfielder or down either flank. With United looking particularly light out wide, this could be an astute piece of business if the fee is right.

With a contract until 2024, Leipzig doesn’t have to rush into a decision on his future this summer – though it can be argued they’ll never get a higher transfer fee for him this time around. Particularly if he doesn’t sign a new deal.
