Man United have added Tyrone Mings to their transfer wishlist ahead of a huge summer window.
As the season has progressed, it has become clear that Manchester United’s problems lie in the defensive third of the field. Massive mistakes have happened far too often, most notably from our two centre-halves and goalkeeper.
With that in mind, it’s no surprise to see United now being consistently linked with moves to sign new central defenders. From Sergio Ramos to Raphael Varane, the transfer tombola is in full flow at Old Trafford.
In their latest, ESPN have reeled off a list of targets United have. Most names we’ve covered before – one, we haven’t; Tyrone Mings.
Apparently, United have added the £27k-a-week (wtFoot) star to their list of potential defensive signings, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to find the perfect partner for Harry Maguire.
It’s claimed that the Baby Faced Assassin is a fan of Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly, though he holds understandable fitness concerns in regards to the latter.
The good news? Solskjaer will have money to spend this summer, ESPN report. Though in the midst of this pandemic, the Reds will, understandably, continue to be cautious.
Would Mings be a good fit?
I like the fact the Englishman has bags of Premier League experience under his belt. He’s also a leader. Someone who’ll shout orders at his teammates when they need a lift.
Although he’s quicker than Maguire, I’m still not sure he has enough pace to complement Maguire’s complete lack of speed.
Aston Villa are a side on the up and they’re not going to want to let one of their key figures go on the cheap. He’d probably cost far more than we’d like, and it does feel wiser to look elsewhere at this point.
Don’t get me wrong, I like Mings. I just feel as if there is likely to be better options out there.
