Man United have seemingly agreed on terms to bring teenage goalkeeper, Elyh Harrison, to Old Trafford.
It seems as though the first summer signing has already been sorted by the powers-that-be at Manchester United.
Calm down, Erik ten Hag hasn’t sanctioned any first-team additions just yet… In fact, this deal comes in the form of a youngster who’ll likely spend at least a few more years away from the limelight just yet…
It’s talkSPORT’s Alex Crook providing the scoop. He took to Twitter yesterday afternoon to confirm that United have ‘agreed a deal’ to sign the ‘highly-rated’ starlet, Elyh Harrison.
Harrison, 16, is a goalkeeper who currently plies his trade for Stevenage. He’s already been given the chance to work with the first team with the League Two club, following some impressive performances at youth level. Now, he’s going to make the step up to the Premier League.
As is always the case with young players, it’s hard to gauge exactly how good they can be. However, United have obviously seen enough in Harrison to offer him the chance to make the move to Old Trafford.
This young man, presumably joining in the summer, will likely start with the U18s, looking to make his way up the ladder over the next few years.
Credit where it’s due, United have been superb when it comes to developing their goalkeepers at every level, despite being a mess in practically every other position on the field…
Harrison will have to work hard to force his way to that number one jersey, though time is undoubtedly on his side. It’ll take at least a couple of seasons before he’s ready to make the jump up to U23s, never mind the first-team football. Either way, he’s at the best place to continue his development!
