Finally, it seems as though Manchester United have made some progress when it comes to signing a new centre-half.
According to The Sun on Sunday, the Red Devils have agreed a world-record fee to sign the 26-year-old Harry Maguire; with the Leicester City man set to become the most expensive defender in history.
Apparently, the deal will total £80million with United paying £60million up front, while £20million is available in add-ons.
Furthermore, Maguire will fly into Manchester today for his Red Devils medical.
It seems as though United have beaten out competition from Manchester City to sign the England centre-half, whose stock has risen massively over the last twelve-to-eighteen months.
Fees aside, Maguire will be an excellent addition for Ole Gunnar Solskajer’s United. This team shipped 54 league goals last term which is nothing short of embarrassing, but a back four of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw is a pretty good one.
Now it’s about pushing the deal through as quickly as possible, giving Maguire enough time to settle into his new surroundings before the serious stuff starts next month!
Spare a thought for a certain Jose Mourinho, who wanted to sign Maguire last summer but the move didn’t go through…
