Yesterday, we covered a story from Sky Sports News, which claimed that Manchester United had seen their £40million bid for Aaron Wan-Bissaka rejected.
With Antonio Valencia leaving on a free while Ashley Young continues to get older, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has seemingly identified right-back as a problem position.
Anyway, yesterday, respected Italian journalist, Nicolo Schira, has given us another update on the Wan-Bissaka transfer saga – and it’s a positive one for United fans.
Schira claims that Wan-Bissaka is United’s ‘first-choice’ right-back option, while the player has already agreed a five-year contract through till 2024. All that’s left is the club’s to agree a fee and finalise the deal.
You do get the impression that Palace aren’t in a rush to sell, although United will have to move quickly as I doubt that the London side will want to lose both Wilfried Zaha and Wan-Bissaka this summer. I believe that whoever goes first is the only one who’ll leave Selhurst Park.
The Sky Sports article cited earlier adds that it’d take at least £60million to tempt Palace into parting with one of their prized assets, and honestly, if United are willing to spend in excess of £50million on Fred this seems like a no-brainer.
Wan-Bissaka would be a huge upgrade on what we have, while being nowhere close to being the finished article. The 21-year-old would be a cult hero as soon as he walks through the Old Trafford doors and we’d be lucky to call him ours should the deal get done.
