Man United have agreed personal terms with Marcel Sabitzer and he’ll head to Manchester to hopefully finalise a transfer.
Manchester United Football Club lost Christian Eriksen to serious injury over the weekend, courtesy of some physical Andy Carroll play…
That left Erik ten Hag a little less than 72 hours to bring in someone to replace the Dane. Like any astute manager would, the Dutchman found someone; Marcel Sabitzer.
The rumours about Sabitzer have been flying all afternoon, with United working quickly to try and get this deal done.
Well, the latest information comes from Fabrizio Romano. He claims that United have agreed personal terms with the player, who ‘immediately accepted’ the offer from United.
The player will be in Manchester later today, waiting for a breakthrough in talks between United and Bayern Munich over the loan deal.
First and foremost, I think we have every reason to be confident that this deal will get completed. It’s just a case of finalising the minor details over the loan. Player wages, appearance fees, etc.
Then, it comes to Sabitzer and what he’ll bring to the table. Make no mistake about it, this guy can play. I’d also fully expect he’ll massively improve under a manager like Ten Hag.
Going into the second half of the campaign without Eriksen and a replacement had the potential to be disastrous, particularly with so many games coming thick and fast over the next month or so.
It’d mean relying wholly on the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay, while any sort of injury would thrust the likes of Kobbie Mainoo and Zidane Iqbal into the limelight. Placing that sort of pressure on their young shoulders feels a little unfair.
Either way, it looks like Sabitzer will be making the move to United, which is rather exciting in my opinion.
