Man United almost out of the race to sign Jude Bellingham

Man United only have a small chance at signing Jude Bellingham.

Manchester United Football Club thought they’d done enough to sign Jude Bellingham a few years ago. The club rolled out the red carpet for the Englishman, even getting Sir Alex Ferguson involved.

Eventually, the deal fell through. Bellingham chose Borussia Dortmund instead, which feels like a correct decision when you look back.

United were always going to be in the running again when Bellingham decided his time in Germany was up. However, the competition was always going to be far fiercer at this point.

One journalist, Florian Plettenberg, believes United ‘hardly has a chance’ to sign the top-class 19-year-old anymore. Most likely due to the clubs’ current stature.

Right now, it’s a triple fight between Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid – though the price is now well in excess of £100m.

This just makes me sad. Bellingham would be an unreal addition to this squad, further progressing this Erik ten Hag style.

I get it, this is an astronomical transfer fee. However, Bellingham is still 19. He’d realistically give you a decade of service at the absolute highest level. What’s not to love about that?

For United, their struggles over the last few years are now starting to come back to haunt them. There is no guarantee the Reds will play Champions League football next year. That alone probably rules them out of this hunt.

It’s going to be super painful to see Bellingham join either Liverpool or City, but right now, those feel like the most likely options. At the end of the day, the money the Premier League has is just ridiculous in comparison to other top divisions in Europe.
