Man United are seemingly making their move to bring Sergino Dest into Old Trafford this summer.
It was clear from the moment Erik ten Hag walked through the door that this Manchester United squad was going to look very different this season.
His style requires a completely different type of personnel to his predecessor, while so far, three new players have been added to the squad.
Right-back remains an area of concern for the majority of supporters. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been deemed surplus to requirements, while Diogo Dalot simply isn’t good enough to start in a side with genuine trophy aspirations.
United are in negotiations with FC Barcelona over Frenkie de Jong, though the Red Devils also have eyes on another player who currently plies his trade at the Camp Nou; Sergino Dest.
The American right-back could be let go by Barca this summer, as they look to generate some funds to help with their financial difficulties.
Apparently, Barca would demand around £17million to let Dest go during this window.
Dest can play either on the right or left, meaning Ten Hag would also be given some more versatility should this move happen.
It’s stated that United’s interest in Dest isn’t new, with the club asking about the right-back’s availability during the prolonged negotiations for the aforementioned De Jong.
Sport also suggest that ‘contacts have intensified recently, which could hint towards a potential deal for Dest being somewhat close. It may also suggest that a deal for De Jong is completely dead in the water – as I’d be incredibly surprised if Barca were to let two first-teamers move to the same club within the same window.
