Man United are among a whole host of top teams that have been offered the chance to sign Marco Verratti from Al-Arabi.
Manchester United Football Club have addressed several gaping holes within their squad during the current summer transfer window, though there is still much work ahead for the Red Devils.
A new midfielder is probably atop the current transfer wishlist, with names like Sander Berge and Manuel Ugarte linked with filling that void.
Over the last 24 hours or so, HITC have linked United with a familiar name; Marco Verratti.
The Italian has been linked with United plenty of times over the last few years, though last summer, he eventually chose to leave PSG, but for an unexpected destination in the form of Al-Arabi.
Now, it seems like he wants out. According to Graeme Bailey, United have been ‘offered the chance’ to sign the 31-year-old midfielder this summer, along with a whole host of European giants.
With just a year left on his contract, the Saudi Arabian club could look to let Verratti go now, so they don’t lose him for nothing next year.
United are said to be among the clubs who have been ‘made aware’ of the player’s possible availability during this window, though it remains to be seen whether any of those sides will firm up their interest with an official bid.
I honestly believe the Verratti ship has sailed. The Italian, although an excellent player, is older now and he’s had a year away from the European game. I honestly don’t see much sense in signing him to an expensive contract, just so he can take minutes away from the likes of Toby Collyer and Kobbie Mainoo.
