Man United have eyes on signing RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo.
Manchester United’s squad could look rather different at the start of the season. Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial are leaving. Others will undoubtedly follow. The Red Devils could even have a new manager at the helm.
The transfer rumours are now starting to ramp up in frequency as we gear up to another massive transfer window.
One of today’s big claims comes from Mundo Deportivo, who credit the Old Trafford side with an interest in signing Dani Olmo.
According to their information, United are interested in signing the 26-year-old attacker, who would cost around £51m (60m euro). Olmo has a release clause coming into effect this summer, though it can only be activated until July 15th.
The problem? The Reds will face heavy competition for the signing of Olmo, with Barcelona, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Manchester City also keen on bringing in the Spaniard.
MD seem to push Barca’s name the hardest, which makes sense given they’re a Catalan media outlet. A move back to his homeland could be an attractive proposition for Olmo, though the lure of the Premier League is also likely to be a possibility.
Olmo can play either as a number ten or on the wing. No doubt that versatility is part of his attraction as a player.
The problem for United here is that they have no Champions League football on offer. Other interested parties do. Money is also thought to be tight as INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe look to restore some sort of financial order to the situation at the Theatre of Dreams.
Olmo would be an unreal signing. I just struggle to see how United get a deal over the line.
