Man United links with winger Kingsley Coman seem to pop up every summer. Well, here we are again…
The need for a new wide player remains, though Jadon Sancho seems to be the man everyone wants.
However, Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman seems to be available for what feels like every summer.
Coman, whose contract expires in 2023, is named amongst a list of Bayern players who could well leave the Bavarian giants this summer. It’s reported that Coman’s father has offered a ‘mandate’ to super-agent Pini Zahavi to ‘negotiate with English clubs’.
The deal is by no means straightforward, mind, with Manchester City also credited with an interest in the winger who has won a league title for each of the past ten seasons!
It’s also stated that at this point, a move is ‘unlikely’, with Bild putting the chances of a transfer happening at just 10%.
Coman scored eight goals and tacked on 15 assists across all competitions this term, which is a pretty good return for someone who doesn’t start week-in-week-out.
The problem I have is that Coman won’t come cheap. While he’s predominantly a left-sided attacker – which is where Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba both play.
This isn’t to say Coman is a bad player, anything but, in fact. I just think there are better options out there for United right now. Plus, if Bayern aren’t really keen on letting him go, what’s the point in pursuing a deal that looks unlikely to happen anyway?
It’s a nice thought from Bild, though I’d take this one with a pinch of salt for now.
