Man United are ‘considering’ a move to sign Ruben Neves

Man United have eyes on Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder, Ruben Neves.

Manchester United Football Club are trending in a positive direction under Erik ten Hag. There’s no getting away from that fact.

The Old Trafford Club are still in their development process under their new manager, with the situation likely to take many transfer windows before this squad is fully adapted into one that fits Ten Hag’s style.

Several names have already been linked with an Old Trafford switch ahead of the summer. Today, Ruben Neves’ name has been thrown into the mix.

It’s Football Insider with the scoop. They state that United are ‘considering a move’ to sign the 26-year-old midfielder.

Apparently, United, along with Liverpool, ‘lead’ Barcelona in the race to sign the player this upcoming summer.

Barca are long-term admirers of the Portugal international, though their financial constraints may make it tough for them to acquire Neves.

Liverpool are another potential destination for Neves, as Jurgen Klopp looks to revamp their midfield.

United are another side looking to move for Neves. Scott McTominay may well be out of the exit door this summer, whereas Marcel Sabitzer’s long-term future remains unclear.

Neves’ contract situation is interesting. The long-term Wolves man has a deal that’s expiring in eighteen months’ time. That could mean any potential buyer could end up signing Neves on the cheap.

In terms of weekly wage, Neves picks up around £50,000-a-week. Not only could a move be lucrative for the player, but he’d also be afforded the opportunity to step it up a level.

There can be no doubt that Neves would be an astute signing for the eventual winner of his signature. Though if United are to have any chance at getting a deal done, you’d imagine they have to finish inside the top four.
