Man United are looking to sign Kai Havertz: report

Just a few days ago on June 1st, we covered a story from The Sun on Sunday in which it was claimed that Manchester United were ‘leading the race’ to sign Bayer Leverkusen attacker, Kai Havertz.

Well, Red Devils interest has since been backed up and it comes from SportBild’s chief, Christian Falk. He claimed that United are looking to sign the superstar German, though they’ll face stiff competition.

Apparently, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Chelsea and Bayern are all at the ‘poker table’. Now, I guess it comes down to who has the best hand…

In terms of fit, Havertz will slot nicely into what Solskjaer is trying to achieve. The Baby Faced Assassin’s goal has been simple – get younger across the board and build a side that can compete for a decade as opposed to a season or two.

The Leverkusen youngster has been simply sublime over the last twelve months, meaning it’s not just United’s head who has turned. The reality of the situation is this; if he wants to stay in Germany, Bayern’s the best bet. If a switch abroad is what Havertz is after, saying no to Madrid isn’t easy.

However, if England is his calling, United feels like the best fit. The transfer fee shouldn’t be a problem for the Old Trafford club, even with everything that’s going on right now…
