Man United are going to make their move to try and sign Michael Olise from Crystal Palace.
It feels like the January transfer window has only just slammed shut, though planning for the summer is well underway. This new Manchester United regime, fronted by INEOS, will bring fresh ideas and new plans into the mix.
Among the names linked with a potential United switch, somewhat heavily over the last few months I will add, is Michael Olise. The Crystal Palace man has gone from strength-to-strength since breaking through into their first-team. Now, he could look to further his career by securing a big-money move.
According to 90min.com, United are ‘set to make a run’ at signing the 22-year-old winger this summer.
At this point in time, INEOS want to look at positions to strengthen, rather than looking at specific names to target. However, the 25% owners of United have endorsed the Reds’ long-standing interest in Olise, with the winger expected to be a ‘concrete’ option heading into a pivotal summer transfer window.
United have unexpectedly struggled for any sort of consistency in that right-wing spot up until a few weeks ago, when Alejandro Garnacho started flourishing out there. It’s widely accepted that the Argentine is better off the left, though, which is where he’ll likely end up in the future.
Olise is a natural right-sided attacker. He has been a thorn in the side of many top clubs already, scoring some outrageous goals, including a stunning free-kick against United last season.
I don’t doubt Olise would improve any side in world football. That’s just how gifted he is. However, there are some drawbacks. This would be a super expensive transfer as Crystal Palace are in no hurry to sell one of their prized assets. It’d mean United would have to drop a large percentage of their budget on one player.
Plus, Olise’s injury history this season is somewhat worrying. He hasn’t been able to stay fit and that’s the last thing United would need going into a crucial campaign.
