Man United attacker wants FC Barcelona move this summer: report

Going into a crucial summer, the problems are mounting up for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Baby Faced Assassin not only has to put in overtime out on the training field, but he’s also trying to sort out player transfers – not only incomings but outgoings too…

Amongst those who could well leave this summer is the out-of-contract attacker, Juan Mata. The Spaniard has endured a mixed five-and-a-half-year stint at Old Trafford, but with no new deal agreed he’s free to move wherever he chooses.

According to the usually reliable Spanish media outlet Sport, the 31-year-old’s first choice is FC Barcelona – although the Catalan giants and the Red Devils will not continue talks until Barca’s Champions League campaign is over.

I love Mata, he’s up there amongst the most likeable players in the world, but at this point it feels as though a move away from Old Trafford is in the best interests of everyone.

Barcelona would almost guarantee Mata trophies year-on-year, while he’ll also be back in his beloved homeland. As for United, they’d be losing a wonderful footballer whom they’ve used sparingly, but more importantly, they’ll be missing an integral figure within that dressing room. It is a shame to see him leave but the timing certainly feels right…
