Manchester United Football Club were performing far better defensively over the last few months before lockdown measures came into effect.
A large reason behind that is Harry Maguire, who has taken on the captain’s role and dragged the whole back line up another level.
However, it seems as though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still after more. The story comes from a combination of Le Parisien in France, and The Sun here in the UK.
Le Parisien state that Thomas Meunier could be on his way out of PSG this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur leading the charge to sign him. However, there’s no mention of the Red Devils from Le Parisien.
It’s The Sun who throw United’s name in the mix, though they’re behind their Premier League rival in the chase to sign the versatile 28-year-old who’d be available on a free transfer.
With the ability to play at right-back, left-back, or even centre-back if needed, Meunier is someone who can take up that Ashley Young or John O’Shea role as a jack of all trades.
Now the article from France does state that Meunier’s preference is to stay in the French capital, but you can bet they’ll be loads of offers, probably more lucrative ones, on the table if the Belgian does decide to move on.
Personally, I’d love to see him at United, but only for the right price…
