Manchester United have fallen behind Chelsea in the race to sign Aleksandr Golovin.
That’s according to Goal, per The Sun. Apparently, the Blues have already had a meeting with the 22-year-old’s representatives, and now it looks likely that a switch to West London is on the cards.
Before the World Cup, reports surfaced suggesting that the Red Devils were readying a move for Golovin. Now, it looks as though they’ll be stiff competition for his signature. Juventus were also in the mix, with the article claiming the Serie A side had made an £18million bid before Russia 2018 got underway.
After some brilliant performances from Golovin, no doubt that price has gone up, with CSKA likely to demand a significantly higher transfer fee.
Golovin is young, hungry and ready for a move to a top-five European league. In a better team, I’ve no doubt that this lad is going to improve. Anything under a £30million transfer fee would be an absolute steal.
With midfield being a real problem area for United last season, a move for Golovin would have made complete sense. However, I have my doubts, following the news that Marouane Fellaini has signed a new deal at the Theatre of Dreams.
