Manchester United have been given some good news, with Anthony Elanga ahead of schedule as he looks to return from injury.
For youngsters, injuries hit harder. After all, it’s relatively new ground as opposed to those old professionals who have been through it before.
For Anthony Elanga, a serious collarbone injury would have no doubt been extremely tough to deal with. Credit to the young man for not getting bogged down by it all.
Well, according to The Athletic, United have been given an injury boost in regards to Elanga. Apparently, the 8-goal, 3-assist starlet is ahead of schedule.
Although he’s still a few weeks from a playing return, with United being typically-cautious, Elanga is set to return to training on the grass this week.
The 18-year-old winger, who won United’s Young Player of the Year award last season, was in spectacular form for the U23s before this latest injury blow.
United should approach this one with caution
Collarbone injuries can be extremely serious. United aren’t going to rush Elanga back, despite his eagerness to get back out there playing again.
However, we’re talking about someone who may well be a future first-teamer. United should make sure he’s 100% past this injury, in order so that it doesn’t flare up again.
For Elanga, it’s about getting back to his best as soon as that opportunity arrives. I don’t doubt that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been keeping a watchful eye on his progress, ahead of what could be a massive summer window for the Red Devils.
Who knows, we could already have our winger issues sorted with Elanga. If he plays well from now until the season’s end, I wouldn’t be wholly surprised to see the Swede-born-wideman feature in a few pre-season friendlies before the 2021/22 term kicks off.
It is good news to hear he’s on the mend, too!
