Scott McTominay is back in Man United training ahead of the Manchester derby.
Manchester United have only lost once under Ralf Rangnick, with the performances looking better. Ironically, it’s their star-studded attack that’s failing to produce the goods by sticking the ball in the back of the net.
Rangnick loves control and we’ve done plenty of that over the last few weeks. This game against Manchester City is the true acid test to see how far we’ve come in that regard, as we usually give up possession in these games against the old enemy.
The midfield battle will no doubt be key as per usual. We’re going to need our most combative players available. Enter, Scott McTominay.
Our Scotland international had missed the last two games with illness. However, United have been boosted as the key star is back in training ahead of Sunday’s Manchester derby, the official club website report.
McTominay has improved year-on-year since breaking into the first-team, slowly adding different aspects to his game. Not only is he a physical force in our midfield, but he’s now started to venture forward and grab himself a few goals, too.
Although he’s not as flashy or direct as the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba, the Scotland international still does an important job for this side – and I maintain my belief we’re a better team with him in it.
He gets what it means to play in a local derby. He’ll give it all for the cause. I’ve no doubt that if McTominay is close to 100% in terms of fitness, he’ll start this game as he’s because one of Rangnick’s most trusted players during his short tenure.
Either way, it’s good to learn that he’s back in training.
