Man United boosted, Gerard Moreno at risk of missing game with injury: report

Man United could have one less problem to worry about when Villareal come to town this Wednesday…

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United have lost three of their last four – which has jolted us all back down to earth over the last fortnight.

Next up comes a Champions League encounter against Villareal. After losing to Young Boys last time out, this one can be viewed as a must-win. At the very least, we absolutely cannot afford to lose this game.

It won’t be easy. After all, Villareal are the side that bested us in the Europa League final just a few months ago and on paper, they’re the toughest opponent we have in our group.

Well, United’s task could have been made easier. The Reds have been boosted, with key Villareal star, Gerard Moreno, at risk of missing the Champions League encounter with injury. That’s according to El Periodico Mediterraneo, translated by Stretty News.

Moreno, who scored in the Europa League final, struck 30 times last season and he has been the focal point of the Villareal attack recently. If he’s missing, that undoubtedly makes United’s task way easier in a game they absolutely have to secure a positive result.

After the bad run of form United have strung together, Solskjaer’s side need all the help they can get and if Moreno is missing, it will give United’s defenders one less problem to worry about.

That doesn’t immediately make this game an easy one. Villareal will still pose a massive threat, it just weakens the Villareal starting line-up a little, giving us a slightly better chance at securing a positive result.

Hopefully, United can use this to their advantage and begin to make an impression on their Champions League group.
