Man United boosted in Christian Eriksen pursuit

Man United have been given a lift in their pursuit of Christian Eriksen.

The Old Trafford club have already been linked with transfer moves for what feels like every possible name under the sun, without any real incoming deal looking imminent.

Of late, Manchester United have been pretty heavily linked with a move to bring in Christian Eriksen, who looks set to become a free agent this summer.

The Dane enjoyed a brilliant return to form at Brentford after signing for the club back in January following a cardiac arrest.

Now, United, along with a whole host of clubs, are looking to sign Eriksen for nothing. Well, United have been given a boost in pursuit of the attacker, with his preference being a Premier League stay.

The story comes from the Daily Mail, who state that Eriksen is subject of ‘strong interest’ from both United and Tottenham Hotspur.

As things stand I remain sceptical about the move. No doubt Spurs have a slight edge due to the Champions League football they can offer, while Eriksen has already spent several years of his career with the North London outfit.

The 30-year-old is ‘admired’ by new United boss Erik ten Hag, who watched him up close and personal when Eriksen briefly trained with Ajax back in January as he was building his fitness levels back up.

With United having many holes to fill at this point in time, it makes sense for Ten Hag to be shrewd when it comes to signing players. Eriksen represents an excellent option in a tough market, while it also wouldn’t take massive amounts of money out of the transfer budget.
