Man United boss Solskjaer adds Aleksandr Sobolev to list of striker targets: report

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solsjaer has added the prolific 22-year-old striker, Aleksandr Sobolev, to his list of forward transfer targets.

That’s according to The Sun in an exclusive, who adds that United have ‘closely watched’ Sobolev, who has scored eight goals and tacked on three assists in his eleven games for Russian side KS Samara this season.

Apparently, Sobolev is now on a list alongside names including Callum Wilson and Mario Mandzukic, as Solskjaer looks to add some firepower to a sometimes toothless United attack.

Furthermore, his club will only listen to offers above £15million for the hitman who has been in deadly goalscoring form to start off the 2019/20 term.

At this stage, I’m willing to try anything. Standing at 6’5, Sobolev would certainly bring something different to the table. It’d give Solskjaer an aerial threat that has largely been lacking to start off this campaign. However, it does beg the question, if that’s what he’s after then why did he allow Romelu Lukaku to leave?

It feels as though thinning on the squad so drastically is already biting United on the behind and it’s a problem that they simply have to rectify when January rolls around. It’s a notoriously tricky time to buy players, though, so expect the Red Devils to greatly pay over the odds.
