Man United braced for Anthony Martial stay due to lack of offers

Man United are fully preparing for Anthony Martial to remain at the club following no interest in the Frenchman.

The current setup at Manchester United is a mess. We have to be honest with ourselves, it’s going to take an awfully long amount of time to fix the deep-rooted issues at Old Trafford.

In terms of the playing squad, United massively underperformed last term. There’s no doubt Erik ten Hag will improve the players currently at the club, though new signings are also needed.

Before incomings arrive, you get the feeling United are doing their utmost to clear out the dead wood. However, one player who they’re struggling to move on from is Anthony Martial.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United are actually ‘braced’ for the struggling 26-year-old to stay at the club due to a lack of offers.

Martial underperformed under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the most part, while Ralf Rangnick didn’t give the Frenchman much of a look-in either. That led to a loan move away at Sevilla.

The former AS Monaco man was underwhelming while over in Spain, too. Now, the MEN is reporting that ‘nobody is breaking the door down’ to sign Martial.

Honestly, it’s a pretty sad situation for a man who United paid £38m for. Martial started life in Manchester nicely, but he hasn’t really developed and kicked on from that debut season.

Right now, you get the feeling that a permanent exit for Martial would benefit all involved, though if no clubs are showing any genuine interest, it means he’s likely to hang around at Old Trafford.

It all comes down to United, who have developed a bad habit of handing big-money contract extensions to those that don’t deserve them.
