After losing out on Erling Braut Haaland to the German giants, another player has chosen the Yellow Wall over the Red Devils, Bild reported on Saturday.
This time around it’s the talented defender, Julian Pauli. Apparently, United had been ‘chasing the signing’ of the defender for months, but have been dealt a blow as Dortmund have won the race to sign the emerging 14-year-old.
Pauli, who grew up in Dusseldorf, was seen as the ‘blue-chip’ player coming out of their academy. Despite United interest, it seems as though Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were never in the game, as Pauli chose to stay in Germany to be closer to his parents. Given his age, that’s understandable.
It’s just a shame to learn that United could have added yet another top-quality talent to an overflowing group of youth players who have the world at their feet. Unfortunately, every now and then, one or two players will slip through the net…
