Manchester United are eyeing a £26.2million (€30m) move for Real Betis attacking midfielder Fabian Ruiz.
Spanish media outlet Don Balon, translated by Stretty News, are claiming that the Red Devils have won the race to sign the talented 22-year-old.
Creative midfielders has been a real issue for Jose Mourinho since his arrival at Old Trafford, and I can certainly see the interest in a young, forward-thinking playmaker being genuine.
Ruiz has scored three goals, while tacking on six assists in La Liga this season, but it’s the fact that he’s up and coming which is appealing. The Spaniard is improving year-on-year, and a move to the Premier League would certainly show that his career is heading in the right direction.
Manager Mourinho loves versatility in his players. Ruiz can also be deployed as a right-winger and if the signing were to happen, I’d imagine that’s where he’d get the majority of his minutes due to that position lacking in quality at this point in time. His main competition would be Juan Mata, and although he’s technically brilliant, the former Chelsea man has hardly set the world alight with performances recently.
