Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Manchester United’s mantra is already becoming obvious. The Baby Faced Assassin wants to build a team of young, preferably British talents who can offer multiple years of service.
The additions of both Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James fit into that mould perfectly – but the Baby Faced Assassin seemingly isn’t done there.
Over the weekend, Football Insider ran a story in which it’s claimed that United are ‘closely monitoring’ the Championship and Leeds United pair of Kalvin Phillips and Ben White.
Furthermore, United’s scouts have been that impressed by the duo that sources have told Footballer Insider that the duo are ‘blowing them away’ with their performances.
Phillips, who can play in midfield or defence, has emerged as a top-quality talent over the last couple of years. He did sign a new contract at Leeds over the summer, though, and prising him away from a fierce rival is never going to be easy.
White, on the other hand, is only at Elland Road on loan. He’s actually a Brighton player with a big future ahead of him. The Seagulls now value the defender at over £20million, though Liverpool are also keen on signing the Englishman.
Again, you have to credit Solskjaer. He’s sticking with what he knows and what works, and long may that continue.
