Manchester United are closing in on their first summer signing, with right-back Djibril Sidibe being targeted by Jose Mourinho.
According to French media outlet Le10Sport, translated by The Mirror, the 25-year-old Sidibe is set to join the Old Trafford club ‘imminently’.
AS Monaco play their final game of the season this evening, with the defender wanting his future sorted before the World Cup kicks off next month.
Manager Mourinho is keen to strengthen his squad this summer, with Sidibe set to be brought in to provide some much-needed competition for an aging Antonio Valencia.
Sidibe has represented his native France on fifteen occasions, with the right-back proving to be a real asset for both club and country over the last few years.
I’d love to see some new full-backs signed. That position seems to be a glaring weakness of United’s recently, but it’s one that the manager seems intent on fixing as soon as possible.
My only concern would be regarding Timothy Fosu-Mensah. What happens to the immensely talented young Dutchman who thoroughly impressed while on loan at Crystal Palace this year? I’d love to see more minutes handed to the 20-year-old, but perhaps the manager sees his future as a centre-back.
