Man United closing in on £25million Sean Longstaff move: report

Manchester United started the summer by adding Daniel James to the ranks, now a second signing could well be on the way.

The report comes from the Daily Mirror, who say that the 20-time Premier League champions are ‘confident’ they can clinch a deal to sign Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United this summer.

Apparently, the 21-year-old will cost around £25million, while ongoing takeover talks and Rafael Benitez’s uncertain future will not scupper any Red Devils more for Longstaff.

Despite suffering an injury in the second half of the season, Solskjaer had already seen enough from Longstaff to deem him ready to make a switch to Old Trafford this summer.

Although Longstaff committed his future to Newcastle earlier this month, the Reds believe they can land their man.

Again, United are targeting young players as they look to overhaul this struggling squad. Longstaff is a talented young man who played a brilliant game against Manchester City earlier on in the season.

At just £25million, United are investing in a player who could give us at least a decade of service all being well. Longstaff is a player who’ll only improve, although I’m somewhat worried about how long it’ll take the midfielder to get back to his best following injury.
