Man United confirm extent of Leny Yoro injury with summer signing set for lengthy spell out

Man United have been dealt a major blow, with Leny Yoro set for a lengthy spell out sidelined.

Manchester United Football Club lost Leny Yoro to injury in their pre-season game against Arsenal, as the defender appeared to hurt his foot against The Gunners. At the time, Erik ten Hag was unsure about the severity.

Initial reports suggested a 3-6 week layoff for the French centre-half, who looked so impressive on debut against Rangers.

However, it has since been confirmed the problem is worse than first feared, with Yoro actually set for a three-month spell on the sideline. Fabrizio Romano covered the news, with the French defender suffering a broken metatarsal. He will now be out of action until November.

Yoro, who signed for the Reds in a deal worth up to £60m, wanted to remain with the Reds squad in the US but his tour is now over.

There was also some bad news on the Rasmus Hojlund front. The striker is out for six weeks with a hamstring problem.

Check out Fabrizio Romano’s X post on the news here:

Honestly, this is gutting. It feels like United’s injury issues are continuing on from last season, as the Old Trafford club simply cannot catch a break in this regard.

Yoro was supposed to be the new star centre-back of this league, though he’s now following an eerily similar route to Kobbie Mainoo last term, who went down in pre-season then missed the first few months of action.

It’s even harder for a new signing, as Yoro has barely played a half of football for his new club as he looks to settle into his new surroundings. I just hope he’s in high spirits as it can be a devastating mental blow.

Replacing him is not going to be easy. Perhaps it’ll urge the Old Trafford side to push harder for another centre-back signing during this window.

Get well soon, Leny.
