Man United have officially announced Leny Yoro as their second signing of the summer.
Manchester United were always going to sign a defender this summer. Raphael Varane left the club and he had to be replaced with genuine quality. Matthijs de Ligt was linked, as was Jarrad Branthwaite. A move for one of these guys could still come to fruition.
However, the player the Red Devils really wanted was Leny Yoro. It looked like a move to sign the Frenchman was out of reach as soon as Real Madrid were interested. However, I should know better than to write United off…
This evening, the official club website have confirmed the news we’ve all been waiting for. Leny Yoro is a Red.
Signing from Lille in a big-money deal, Yoro has put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the option for a further year.
The 18-year-old already has 60 professional games under his belt and no doubt he’s hoping to further add to that this coming season at the Theatre of Dreams.
The Yoro deal moved extremely quickly. From agreeing a fee and sorting out personal terms in just a few days, United have done well to get this one over the line. Now, Yoro has already been spotted sporting his new club colours.

Upon signing, Yoro said:
“Signing for a club with the stature and ambition of Manchester United so early in my career is an incredible honour.”
“Since my first conversations with the club, they set out a clear plan for how I can develop in Manchester as part of this exciting project, and showed a lot of care for me and my family.
“I know about the history of young players at Manchester United and feel it can be the perfect place to reach my potential and achieve my ambitions, together with my new team-mates. I cannot wait to get started.”
He seems super excited about getting going, while we supporters are also super keen to see Yoro in action. The fact that he did not participate at the European Championship is good news for us. He can get stuck in almost right away. We should see him play his fair share of minutes during pre-season tour, particularly over in the US.
Let’s hope Yoro has a good summer and can hit the ground running next month.
Welcome to the biggest club in the world, Leny!
