Man United have confirmed they’ve signed Marcel Sabitzer on loan until the end of the season.
After the Christian Eriksen injury blow was confirmed, Manchester United had to act quickly in order to fill a major void in their squad.
Erik ten Hag needs that metronomic midfielder who can keep things simple and ensure his team remain in possession. Going into the final six months without that player profile in the squad would have made things infinitely more difficult for the Red Devils to achieve their goals.
As deadline day began, whispers surrounding a Marcel Sabitzer loan move began to grow. The more you looked at this deal, the more it made sense for all involved.
A fast-moving transfer was always what was going to be required. That’s never really been United’s forte. However, credit to the Red Devils, they managed to push the move over the line in speedy manner.
Late last night, the club confirmed the loan had been completed in time. No doubt good relationships between United and Bayern Munich helped hurry this one along.
Suddenly, I’m feeling rather optimistic about the season once again. Sabitzer is a player who is capable of being a real asset to this club over the next four months or so.
He’s a willing presser, has an excellent passing range, loves an effort from distance and is a master when it comes to free-kicks. I can already see Sabitzer as someone who United will try to sign permanently when the summer rolls around.
With time not really on his side and no real rush to throw him straight into the fire tonight, I doubt we’ll see him feature against Nottingham Forest. However, it’s good to see United get their man in.
Welcome, Marcel!
