Man United confirm Ralf Rangnick exit

Ralf Rangnick will no longer remain at Man United in a consultancy role…

On what was a pretty slow news day, Manchester United have certainly livened things up for us this evening!

In an unexpected surprise, the club have confirmed that Ralf Rangnick will no longer stay at the club in a consultancy role…

Apparently, it’s due to the demands in Rangnick’s new role as Austria manager, with the German now not having as much free time as initially thought to carry out his work here at Old Trafford.

Originally, when taking the Austria job, we were told that Rangnick would still undertake his role at United, but obviously the ex-Reds gaffer now has other plans…

I do wonder whether there is more to this than meets the eye. Rangnick is an experienced bloke and he would fully understand just how much work is needed to manage Austria. Why the sudden U-turn?

Perhaps in conversation with Erik ten Hag it has come to light that both the Dutchman and Rangnick have very different ideas. Either that or United’s new boss simply doesn’t intend on working with a consultant.

Honestly, I just don’t get this club sometimes. They hired Rangnick as a manager purely to have his experience as a consultant for a couple of years. Now, they’ve decided to let him leave before he gets the chance to do the job he’s actually good at!

All that positive work Rangnick did behind the scenes is now going to be completely forgotten about, with Ten Hag truly back at square one when it comes to sorting out this mess of a squad he has at his disposal.

Thanks for weeding out the rats and best of luck going forward, Ralf!
