A Man United move for Ismaila Sarr could well be in the offing, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to bolster his attack.
A move for Jadon Sancho has been the talk of the summer. Though, at this stage, a deal looks unlikely.
Now, according to the Daily Mail, United are considering a move for the emerging 22-year-old winger Sarr. Apparently, the Senegal international is rated at around £45m, with Liverpool also previously showing interest before they signed Diogo Jota.
United had dismissed links to Sarr in the past, though with time running out in the transfer window, the wide man is now back on the radar.
It goes without saying that Sancho remains the dream option. However, at this stage, with a week left in the window, a move for the Englishman looks nigh-on impossible.
Solskjaer cannot go into this campaign without further strengthening this playing squad. Sarr is not the number one target. He is, however, a player who fits the mould.
What would Sarr offer?
The 22-year-old is quick, good off either foot, a goal-threat and someone who possesses great movement. He’ll also work hard defensively when that’s required of him.
At £45million, it’s a significantly cheaper deal than that of Sancho, giving United more wiggle room elsewhere. If, somehow, the club can acquire Sarr while also bringing in a defender, it’d have to be viewed as progress.
Right now, though, neither look anywhere close to being completed. It’s down to Edward Woodward to act quickly and get a couple of new faces in. Without it, United don’t have a chance and Solskjaer will simply become the next fall guy.
Sure, Sarr isn’t the dream signing but the Old Trafford club can certainly do worse. It’s either that or sign someone who’d be a stop-gap for a year, before going back after Sancho next summer…
