Man United could make a late move to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin before Friday’s transfer deadline.

Manchester United Football Club have made four signings so far. A fifth in the form of Manuel Ugarte appears to be close.

Some fans believe that there’s still a need to bring in another out-and-out number nine. Joshua Zirkzee isn’t your traditional striker, while Rasmus Hojlund is currently out injured.

Now, Football Insider believe United could make an offer to bring in Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

According to their information, United, along with Newcastle United, are said to be considering a ‘late swoop’ for the Premier League striker, amid his contract standoff with The Toffees.

Calvert-Lewin has now entered into the final twelve months of his contract, meaning Everton may be forced to sell him now in a cut-price deal, or risk losing him for free next summer. With time running out in the window, the Red Devils could potentially grab themselves a bargain.

A few years ago, Calvert-Lewin was among the best strikers in the country. However, injuries and a couple of tough seasons have halted the 27-year-old in his tracks. He scored eight goals across all competitions last term.

You’d like to think that playing with a better quality of footballer around him then Calvert-Lewin would provide better numbers, though I do worry about whether he’s good enough for Manchester United.

I guess it all depends on the price tag and wages. If United feel happy with the financial side of any prospective deal, then it could be worth a punt on a short-term contract.

Do you think Dominic Calvert-Lewin would be a good signing for Man United? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
