Man United considering David de Gea options, open to approaches: report

Manchester United have a huge David de Gea decision to make.

For so long, David de Gea has been by far and away Manchester United’s most consistent performer. Superstar saves and world-class reflexes once had him as the best in the world at what he does.

Sadly, his elite days are now behind him – but that doesn’t mean he’s a bad goalkeeper. Over the last couple of seasons, massive errors from De Gea have only grown in frequency. Couple that with the emergence of Dean Henderson and United have a decision to make.

Now, according to 90min.com, United are ‘considering options’ to move on the top-class 30-year-old, while in their title, it’s claimed they’re ‘open’ to ‘approaches’ from potential buying clubs.

Alongside the De Gea news, it’s claimed that United are ‘keen’ to promote Henderson to number one.

The 23-year-old reluctantly accepted playing second-fiddle to De Gea at the season’s start but as the term has gone on, Henderson’s stock has only risen.

Top-class performances against Crystal Palace and Manchester City in the last couple of games, in De Gea’s absence, have only further swung the pendulum in Henderson’s favour.

That leaves Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a massive decision to make. Henderson is now at that stage where he’s had a taste of starts. He’ll likely not accept returning to the bench and if the Red Devils don’t give him what he wants, he’d have offers aplenty to move elsewhere over the summer.

We’ve been banging the Henderson drum for about a year now. I’d give him the job and look to move De Gea on as soon as possible. The Spaniard may well fancy a return to his homeland, particularly after the birth of his first-born, who is presumably staying in Spain with De Gea’s partner, Edurne.

For us here at Old Trafford Faithful, there seems only one logical choice…
