Man United considering move to sign Mauro Icardi: report

Man United could make their move to acquire Mauro Icardi…

Ralf Rangnick already has dressing room mutiny on his hands if you believe stories in the press – that’s despite being in charge of Manchester United for just 40 days.

I’m old-school in the belief that these players should just be sold as soon as possible, rather than bowing down to their rather large egos…

One major consideration in regards to United transfers is that Rangnick will only be in charge until the summer. Should he really be given money to spend? Well, needs-must, apparently…

It seems as though the Old Trafford club have eyes on striker, Mauro Icardi.

Apparently, United are considering a move to sign the 28-year-old striker, who has 171 career goals during a pretty decorated career for three clubs. Currently, the Argentine plies his trade for Paris Saint-Germain.

The claim comes from L’Equipe in France. United have identified Icardi as someone who can potentially replace Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial – but only in the event that both leave Old Trafford during this January transfer window.

As things stand, that looks unlikely given Rangnick made it pretty clear El Matador wouldn’t be going anywhere this month. Martial, on the other hand, could well leave either permanently or on loan.

I rate Icardi as a player when utilised properly. However, I’m just not sure another man, who is known for his off-field antics, is the right fit for this dressing room right now. I can imagine the Argentine would only add further fuel to the fire.

What this club needs is a complete reset. Reaffirm old beliefs and identity, sign younger players and put belief in those guys as opposed to these Prima Donna’s who make it all about them.

Obviously, that’ll take time but with a long-term goal in mind, it definitely feels like the best strategy.
