Man United could potentially hand Facundo Pellistri a new contract, before he heads out on loan next season.
Manchester United Football Club continue to adapt and evolve under Erik ten Hag, with the squad looking a whole lot different than it did this time last year.
The dressing room continues to change and it will do so going into the transfer window. First and foremost, the gaffer has to evaluate the talent that’s already at the club – and determine whether these guys are good enough, before replacing them with big money signings.
One man who absolutely falls into that bracket is Facundo Pellistri. The winger has been on the fringes of things ever since moving to the club a few years ago – without really pushing into the fold on a regular basis.
Recently, Pellistri has been given a couple of opportunities to impress of the bench. He has looked sharp on those occasions. Now, a decision has to be made on his future.
According to Fabrizio Romano, United are ‘now considering’ a new contract for the 21-year-old – before sanctioning a loan move away for Pellistri.
No decision has been made yet on both sides, though those talks are set to take place in April.
From a purely fan standpoint, Pellistri certainly has something about him. Be it due to playing against tired defences, or the fact that this boy is actually going to be super threatening, there is the natural ability there.
I’m unsurprised to hear that a loan move is in the offing, though. United are decently-stacked, numbers-wise, in the wide positions right now. He just needs to continue on that upwards trajectory and I don’t doubt his chances will come. Perhaps he’ll be given more of a sniff due to the Alejandro Garnacho injury setback.
