Man United are looking at the possibility of using Mason Greenwood in a swap deal to sign Joao Felix.
Manchester United Football Club could do with some additional help in the final third. That much is obvious. The Old Trafford side have been several men light in that area. Jadon Sancho wasn’t involved. Anthony Martial consistently injured. Antony simply not good enough.
Another player who United haven’t been able to call upon is Mason Greenwood. Rightly or wrongly, the Englishman is still employed by the Reds, though that could change this summer. In an ideal world, United will receive a decent transfer fee for the Englishman who spent this past season on loan at Getafe.
Now, the Daily Star have provided an update on Greenwood’s future, claiming United are ‘considering’ using the attacker in a stunning swap deal.
In return for Greenwood, this potential trade would see 24-year-old Joao Felix heading the other way, with the academy graduate heading to Atletico Madrid.
The Spanish side are keen on signing Greenwood this summer. So-much-so that they’ve offered Felix to the Reds as part of any deal.
Felix has spent the last couple of seasons out on loan away from Atletico, playing for both FC Barcelona and Chelsea over that time. Now, the Madrid side are seemingly looking to move away from the man from Portugal on a permanent basis.
United are thinking about whether Felix would be the right fit at the Theatre of Dreams, while the player himself would prefer to make the move to a side that has Champions League football on offer.
All things considered, it feels like this transfer is a long shot. United do not seem totally convinced by Felix’s player profile, while the player would likely demand an astronomical wage in order to forfeit Champions League football.
Our best guess is that a lot would have to happen for this move to take place.
