Man United could make their move for Borussia Dortmund right-back, Thomas Meunier.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka does not feature in Erik ten Hag’s plans. That has been made clear from the get-go.
Thus far, the Old Trafford club have been unable to sell ‘The Spider’, most probably due to his high wages and likely high transfer fee.
Well, The Telegraph believe that Crystal Palace may be willing to spend £10m to bring Wan-Bissaka back to London. Obviously, that’s a huge loss for United, but that’s just the way the club is being run right now.
What I found most interesting about The Telegraph article was the fact that United are now making a play to sign Borussia Dortmund right-back Thomas Meunier. Presumably to replace the potentially-outbound Wan-Bissaka.
Apparently, United are ‘considering’ making a move to sign the 30-year-old full-back this summer. Though whether Dortmund will let the Belgian leave remains to be seen.
It is understood that a £12.6m offer has been proposed for Meunier, who has a contract until 2024.
That feels like a fair fee for a man who has dipped in and out of the Dortmund side, since joining the Bundesliga club on a free back in 2020.
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Meunier would become the first choice right-back as soon as he walked through the door, which could be a real attractive proposition for the player.
You also have to factor in Meunier’s experience. This is a guy who has played at a high level for a number of years. Adding another wise mind into that dressing room can only be a good thing.
If you haven’t already guessed, I’ve personally just had enough of Diogo Dalot. He is not cut out to make it at the highest level. That’s just the harsh reality. I keep hearing about how he’s better than Wan-Bissaka when it comes to delivering the ball into the box. I gotta’ tell you, I’m not so sure about that…
