Man United seemingly have their sights set on Sevilla centre-back, Jules Kounde.
A centre-half seems to be amongst Manchester United’s top priorities over the summer.
Let’s face it, Harry Maguire aside, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s current crop of defenders offer nothing but inconsistency in one form or another.
With that in mind, finding the perfect partner for Maguire has to take priority. A name that we’ve covered before is Jules Kounde. Now, the Frenchman is once again being linked with an Old Trafford switch.
Apparently, United have asked ‘for a price’ to sign the 22-year-old, with Sevilla Sporting Director, Monchi, demanding a fee of no less than £56m (€65m). This fee could rise further if Kounde goes on to have an excellent European Championships with his native France.
Although United’s need to sign a centre-back is pressing, the Reds aren’t the only club interested in Kounde. Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are all credited with an interest, which should tell us all just how talented this young man is.
Look, we’re not going to sit here and tell you Kounde is the best thing since sliced bread and he’s going to single-handedly change our future. What we will tell you, though, is that United’s current options at centre-half aren’t good enough. If Solskjaer deems Kounde a definitive upgrade on them, I’m all for this deal happening this summer.
Expect this one to drag on until after EURO 2020, though, as I don’t think we’ll see any movement on this one before the tournament kicks off next month.
