Man United contemplating Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain move

Man United could look to bring in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Liverpool this summer.

Erik ten Hag will be working with a very different Manchester United squad. When all is said and done, I genuinely believe we could see double figures in terms of player exits.

It goes without saying, the Old Trafford club will have to fill those holes quickly and smartly.

United have been linked with what feels like every name under the sun, though talkSPORT‘s Alex Crook throws a new, intriguing name into the mix; Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

According to Crook, United are contemplating a ‘surprise’ move to sign the want-away Liverpool star this summer.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is ‘desperate’ to leave Anfield after starting just nine Premier League games all season. Couple that with United looking light in midfield and this does have the makings of a genuinely smart piece of business.

If Liverpool are prepared to accept a knockdown fee of £10m, United would be ‘seriously interested’ in signing the Englishman this summer.

The 28-year-old once was touted as being the next big thing in this country, though injuries and a lack of playing time have seriously scuppered those plans.

What I like most about this move from a United standpoint is the versatility. Oxlade-Chamberlain can play in pretty much every position all over the field due to his unique skillset. That’s exactly what the Red Devils need going into this window where they’re massively overhauling the squad.

If the price is right, this would be a shrewd bit of business, but Oxlade-Chamberlain shouldn’t come here expecting to start every single week and that’s just not going to happen. We’re not going to sit here and proclaim that this guy is going to replace the production from the outbound Paul Pogba, but there’s no doubt the Englishman could do a job.

You’d also have to be very wary about Oxlade-Chamberlain’s injury history. This is a man who spends plenty of time on the treatment table.

Would a Man United move for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain make sense in your opinion? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
