Darren Fletcher was sent to watch Ismaila Sarr, as Man United weigh up a move for the winger.
Manchester United’s move for Marko Arnautovic has (rightly) gone up in smoke over the last 24 hours or so. Couple that with the failure to deliver Antony to Erik ten Hag and the Red Devils could be found guilty of floundering in the transfer market yet again…
The Old Trafford club are now seemingly onto their fourth and fifth choice targets in that position of the field, despite losing the likes of Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and others over the summer.
Yesterday, another potential option was thrown into the mix; Ismaila Sarr, who currently plies his trade for Watford.
It’s the Daily Mail with the claim, who state that United are ‘contemplating’ a summer move for the 24-year-old winger.
On top of that, they had staff member, Darren Fletcher, in attendance on Monday night when Sarr played his latest game against West Bromwich Albion. He scored from inside his own half, which already could prove to be the goal of the season!
Fletcher was in the building to ‘continue United’s assessment’ of the Watford winger, who suffered relegation with the Hornets last season.
The Red Devils are absolutely intent on signing another player who can operate from the flanks, with Sarr another name who is now under consideration. That goal at the weekend absolutely hasn’t done his chances at a potential move any harm.
Understandably, Watford wouldn’t want to cash in on one of their key players as they look for an immediate bounce back to the Premier League, though if United come in with a lucrative offer, it may be too good to turn down.
Sarr would be a decent signing. No more. No less. He has capabilities to thrive within this Ten Hag system, though he’s not a world beater by any stretch of the imagination.
In an ideal world, I’d like to see United set their sights a little higher, but this is the hand the club have been dealt right now…
